I got to take a tour of the Petersen Family Wellness Center with Director Todd Alberti. He showed me around and talked about the facility. One of the things we talked about was the physical therapy part of the building, “So there’s two different main entrances… main entrance for pt and main entrance for the Wellness center.” We discussed the room in the physical therapy gym, “Big nice open spot… they’re real excited about making the move over.” Todd talked about the hours for the Center, “The hours are going to be… Sunday will be noon to 6.” I asked Todd about the biggest concern he has about the Wellness Center, “Right now the unknown… it’s easier to add hours than subtract… like I said the unknown.” The Petersen Family Wellness Center will be opening up in late August.

The East Pottawattamie County Fair Queen was announced last evening. Courtney Harder won the crown and Gabrielle Kates was runner up.

Two Fair Queens were announced last night. The East Pottawattamie County Fair Queen was announced as was the Audubon County Fair Queen. Courtney Harder won the crown and Gabrielle Kates was runner up. Courtney will be going into her senior year at A-H-S-T in the fall. The Audubon County Fair Queen was Hallie Christofferson and runner up was Amber Irlmeier. Hallie graduated from Exira High School this past spring and has started her college career at Iowa State. She also plans to play basketball at ISU in the fall. Both the East Pottawattamie and Audubon Fairs will continue until Monday.

There are plenty of things to see and do tonight and this weekend in the area. The East Pottawattamie County fair is going on. This evening’s event is the Pickup and Tractor pull starting at 7pm in Avoca. The Harrison County Fair has started with several events. Tonight, you can see two different activities. One is the Demolition Derby in the Grandstands at 7:30 and the other is Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50’s show under the free entertainment tent starting at 8. Both will be in Missouri Valley. I will have the winners of both County fair queen contests coming up at 5. Don’t forget about the Portsmouth Parish picnic as well. The picnic begins with a pitch tournament on Saturday and ends Sunday at 10pm with a raffle for $10,000. I’ll tell you all about the brand new Wellness Center in Harlan coming up at 5.

The Audubon County Fair has a lot of events going on. KNOD’s own Aaron Bauer was down there earlier today talking about some of the events with Audubon Fair board president Steve Hansen about some of the events tonight, “5 o’clock there’s… wrap up the evening.” Aaron asked the details on the Beef feed, “Audubon County T-Bone… probably Ribeye sandwiches.” Tonight is the figure 8 races and Steve discussed that, “We have 2… one Sunday night.”
