5th Place Finish for HC Boys’ Track at Ram Relays –

(4-10-25) – As the season hits the final stretch, the Cyclone boys’ track team is getting into position to compete.

Harlan Community boys’ competed at the Ram Relays on Tuesday and tied for 5th overall with 63 points.

“Overall, I thought we thought we performed really well,” said Cyclone Track Coach Sam Brummer. “We had a couple of adverse situations with some guys going down with some tightness and some injuries. So, we really kind of had to shuffle the deck more than what we probably would wanted to at any meet really.”

Glenwood was your overall winner with 149 points.

Brummer knows while athletes were competing in events they weren’t used to, they still performed admirably and created depth for the team.

“When you're going in kind of blind, so to speak, on some handoffs, you know you're leaving some time on the track and obviously that can cause you to climb the team ladder maybe (not) as high as what you wanted. But I thought we’re putting those kids in those situations. You know, we still got to stick around and still we're able to score some points which is better than no points.”

The Cyclones got a 2nd place finish from Dallas McDowell in the high jump. Brummer likes his consistency, work ethic, and diversity.

“He's a worker. You know, he wants to perfect his craft. He's going to start working his way into some hurdle events here too.”

Harlan Community also earned 3rd place finishes from Ayden Redmon in the 200M, Jozef Reisz in the Discus, and in the Sprint Medley.

Brummer is now looking to see how his athletes hold up to tough competition now that they're about halfway through the season.

“For us, you know, just competition. Just get out and compete. Whether you have one event or four events, we want to see what you got.”

Both the Cyclone Boys' and Girls' Track teams will compete at the Denison-Schleswig Co-Ed Thursday.
