Solid Core on Both Sides of Ball Returning for Logan-Magnolia FB -

(8-23-23) - A transition year helped Logan-Magnolia get several inexperienced players on the field. Coach Matt Straight liked his team’s effort and attitude in what ended up in a 5-4 season and a Class A playoff berth.

Two returning players Straight is high on are his backfield tandem of Evan Roden and Calvin Collins, who combined for nearly 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns.

“They have a great work ethic. Two of our better lifters, multi-sport athletes, man, they go hard north and south. Have a lot of explosion because of their work ethic. So yeah, they know how to get first down and that's what our offense is about.”

Despite allowing 25 pts per game, Straight thinks his defensive line will be tremendous this season.

“The D-line was going to be one of our strong points. We have Grant Brix, who is phenomenal offensive lineman for us. He'll plug up some things for us on defense. Daltyn Pitt will as well as a senior and Jack and Jay Straight while get in a mix there as well.”

Logan-Magnolia faces off against Highway 30 rival Missouri Valley to begin the 2023 season on Friday.
