Bitter Taste of Last Season Pushing Cyclone FB -

(8-29-24) - Harlan Community football Coach Todd Bladt had a simple message for his returning players after last season's early round playoff loss to Creston.

“You know, everybody wants to play a few more games and there's kind of a loss of a finality to it, but you're gonna have to deal with that pain for a while, so there's some life lessons that go along with that. I think for the younger underclassmen, it was kind of a wake up call, so hopefully they've got the nose on the grindstone and understand what's in front of them, you know, this season.”

Bladt has faith that sophomore quarterback Gabe Arkfeld will be able to beat the field general his offense needs.

“He's cool. He's calm, which is important at quarterback. You know, you don't want to get too high, too low and you know you can't let the emotions completely take over.”

Meanwhile, Bladt’s message for Game 1 was just as simple as the one that ended last year.

“You know, if we can just play with confidence, don't be afraid to make a mistake and now fly around out there on the field. Let's get 1% better every single time.”
