Despite winless week, Cyclone SB Showing Progress –

(6-6-25) – No team likes to go winless over a week. But if you can find positives, it can build confidence.

“If you just look at the wins and losses, it was a tough week for us,” said Harlan Community Co-Softball Coach Brett Croghan. “But if you dig a little deeper into the kind of the individual stats of errors and hits and less strikeouts, we've been making some progress.

“We've been making less mistakes. We've been putting the bat and the ball in play more. We've been making those plays that we need to play to progress forward. So that's something that we've been trying to hang our hat on and continue that to keep the morale high going into next week.”

One player putting bat to ball for the Cyclones has been Taylor Heese. The junior 3rd baseman is hitting .389 on the season with an OPS of .759.

“She has been swinging to better pitches, which has been something that we've been preaching with her all along. Her swing is solid and when she's when she makes contact, it goes.”

For Croghan, he wants his young group to accomplish just one goal to start.

“We're just hoping to piece together a complete game. It seems like every, every so often we do something really well, but then something holds us back a little bit, and then the next game will do a different thing well, but then another thing will hold us back. So we're hoping to put all those pieces together against Glenwood on Monday and then going forward the rest of that week to hopefully just put a complete game together.”
