First-Ever Woodbine Co-Ed Won by Riverside Girls’, Lo-Ma Boys’ -

(5-1-25) – Blame it on the rain.

For the first time ever, Woodbine held a co-ed track meet on Thursday. After the boys’ Phil Hummel Relays were rained out on Monday, they combined with the Woodbine Girls’ Invitational. Riverside was your girls’ winner with 137 pts, while Logan-Magnolia took the boys’ title with 158 pts.

On the girls’ side, the host Woodbine would finish 4th overall with 79 pts. Ten of those points came in the 4x800M with the Tiger team of Charlotte Placek, Kate Barry, Adyson Lapel, and Reagan Cogdill with a time of 10:45.60. It was a great pass by Cogdill on the anchor leg that led her team to the win.

“It was mostly just getting out really strong and not focusing on the girl behind me and the world front of me because sometimes I like to think, ‘ Oh, don't let this girl pass me,’ but I was just like, ‘You know what? I can catch her.’ Just believing, you know?”

The Riverside girls’ got wins from Bentley Rone in the 400M hurdles and the team of Rone, Veronica Schechinger, Elly Henderson, and Sophia Fenner in the Distance Medley. Treynor finished 2nd overall.

For Cogdill and her teammates, it was nice to be able to compete in front of her home fans.

“It feels really great. I honestly had not the best day this Tuesday so it feels really great to come back and just have a good day today and this great weather in front of all my friends and family.”

The Phil Hummel Relays were won by Hwy 30-rival Logan-Magnolia with 158 pts. The Panthers got wins from William Anderson in both the 100M and 200M, Wes Vana in the Long Jump, Jacob Sporrer in the 3200M, and relay wins in the Shuttle Hurdle, 4x200M, and 4x100M.

Woodbine finished a close 2nd with 147 pts.
