AHSTW Girls’ BB Owns Boards in Opening Night Win over Woodbine, 49-33 –

(11-24-25) – Board domination was the key to the Lady Vikes starting the year with a win.

Addison Carroll had 18 pts and 10 rebounds as AHSTW cruised to a 49-33 victory over Woodbine to open the 2025-26 basketball season.

Carroll talked with KNOD Sports about the importance of dominating the boards on both sides of the court.

“It gives us a lot of confidence to move forward. We came in here knowing that we needed a rebound. They're a pretty big team, so we knew that they were going to rebound really well and we just wanted to keep getting each other the best looks that we could.”

Clara Pace also had a double-double for the Lady Vikes with 15 pts and 10 boards off the bench. She knew it was important for her to help out and be productive when she got her opportunities.

“I knew that I had to come in with a lot of energy, help sports team get all of the rebounds and our team's been struggling with injuries, and I just knew I had to step up.”

AHSTW used their work on the boards early to build a comfortable lead at halftime as Bella Lamp would score 11 of her 13 pts in the 1st half to send the Lady Vikes to locker room up 25-11.

Woodbine then started to find a rhythm as Vanessa Blum got going, scoring the Tigers first 6 pts of the 2nd half on her way to a 10 pt performance in her varsity debut. The game was much closer in the 2nd half as AHSTW only outscored Woodbine 24-22.

As a leader for this Lady Vikes squad, Carroll understands the importance of starting the season off on the right foot.

“It was really important. Having a lot of young players, it can be scary, but just knowing to be a leader on my team and help them through that is really important and we're all there for each other and we have great teammates.”

Meanwhile, Pace knows what she has to bring to her sophomore campaign after her successful freshman season.

“Energy is a big thing, coming off the bench as well. You really need to come in. And then our young players with the energy as well, we just need to support them because they can get nervous.”

It’s AHSTW’s first victory over Woodbine since 2020.
