Andersen Sees Lots of Promise w/ Cyclone Bowling -

(12-14-25) – The lanes could be lit for Cyclone Bowling this season.

Harlan Community Bowling Coach Jami Andersen likes how her young girls’ team, who’ve started the season 1-1, has improved over their first two matches of the year.

“I'm seeing a lot of growth already in the first month that I've had with them and just excited to see where we can go.”

Freshman Hailey Strom is leading the way for the Cyclone girls’ bowlers with a 144 average. Andersen likes how Strom is willing to learn and improve her game.

“She's just really figuring out how to use some of the targeting points on the lane. She's really good at building downhill targeting, but just getting her to use some of those closer targets on the lane to assist her in just becoming more accurate.”

Her boys’ team has yet to hit the lanes this season, but Andersen is excited about what she can get from Eric McCulley and Logan Strom.

“(McCulley) attended some camps over the summer to help also improving his game. I'm excited to see how that added knowledge transitions onto the lanes in competition. I've seen lots of good things in practice.

“Strom, third-year member, also providing good leadership. He's been my anchor since he was a freshman on the team. I've seen him throw a couple 200s in practice. I am optimistic that maybe we will get our first 200 average record for the team this year, either with Logan or Eric.”

Harlan Community bowling will compete in Council Bluffs against Lewis Central and St. Albert in a triangular Monday.
