Atlantic FB Growing Up, Looking to Improve in 2024 -

(8-26-24) – Atlantic’s youth movement had a lot to learn last season.

Now, Coach Joe Brummer hopes his young team will learn from last season and be ready to compete this year.

“We got to grow up in a hurry and I thought the kids got better as the year went on,” Brummer told KNOD Sports. “It's kind of all those things that the kids learning to play the game of football. They had some lumps, some pains. But as the year went on they did a great job of picking up what we were trying to do defensively, offensively, and just played better football overall.”

Brummer likes what Kinnick Juhl, who had 32 ½ tackles and 4 picks last year, has done for his Trojan secondary and hopes it carries over to this season.

“He's done a great job of making sure everybody in the right spot. That everybody's lined up. That the calls are correct and he runs the defense from the secondary. It's really nice to have kind of that second coach out there. Those second set of eyes that only come to the sideline, we can communicate with him and he can relay it to all the players. He does a phenomenal job with that.”

Atlantic defeated Thomas Jefferson 48-30 in their Week 0 contest. The Trojans will face Clarke on Friday. Full interview with Atlantic Coach Joe Brummer is available above.
