Audubon Agrees to Combine Sports w/ Exira-EHK –

(7-31-26) - It’s official. They’ll be the Spartan/Wheelers.

The details aren’t fully out in regards to their official nickname, but the Audubon Community School District agreed to expand their athletic partnership with Exira-EHK.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Audubon Board of Education unanimously approved athletic sharing partnerships for both boys and girls for cross country, basketball, wrestling, tennis, track, baseball, and softball.

During the State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge last week, Exira-EHK/Audubon softball’s Abby Wanser said she feels this was the best thing for both school districts.

“I think, honestly, the best thing we could do is be combined. We just thrive so much together. We're all super close. It's not like there's like, oh, that girl's from Exide where we don't like her.”

The shared partnerships between Audubon and Exira-EHK will go in effect this winter. A copy of Audubon Community School District’s full statement is located below:
