Balanced Attack Sends Riverside VB to Regional Final w/ Win Over Mo Valley, 3-0 –

(10-27-25) – Everyone contributes. It makes the Big Dawgs offense difficult to stop.

Sydney Somers had 7 kills, one six Riverside players with at least five on the evening in their straight set victory in the 2A-Region 7 semifinals over Missouri Valley, 25-12, 25-22, 25-21.

Somers talked about the balance in the Dawgs attack.

“I think everybody on our team can hit the ball and our setters do a great job with moving the ball around so we can pull the block and get a lot of open shots and our setters know who's hot, which most of the time it's pretty much everyone is on fire. So we just have to trust each other and know that we can all hit the ball.”

Service was on point for the Dawgs as they had 11 aces with a 94.4% service efficiency for the match. Somers says the service game has been worked on a lot recently in practice.

“We think, if we miss a serve before, we say ‘ball in’ and then we go and serve aggressive, which helps because we can get on little runs off of serves, especially off aces.”

Sophomore Arabella Singleton had 6 kills and 3 aces. She feels having the proper attitude has been most important for her team this season.

“We just know our worth and know that we can fight through every point and we don't get down on the little things and we just stay positive, hype each other up.”

Singleton feels she’s learning so much from her veteran teammates and likes being a part of the team’s success.

“It's a great honor and I'm really glad that this is my team and I get to play with all these great girls. Just having high hopes and knowing that we're all great players. It's just (an) all good thing all together.”

The Lady Reds got 8 kills apiece from Khloe Stoops and Dilynn Myler while Claire Myler added 18 assists as Missouri Valley’s season ends at 26-15.

Riverside will play in the 2A Region 7 Final against Aplington-Parkersburg on Wednesday in Van Meter.
