Boyer Valley BB Batters Exira-EHK, 14-0 –

(6-14-24) – The bats were alive for the Bulldogs on Friday.

Boyer Valley consistently strung together hits to earn a 14-0 victory over Rolling Valley Conference rival Exira-EHK.

Cooper Petersen and Levi Reineke each had 3 hits and drove in 4 runs. Petersen had doubles in each of the first two innings to drive in runs and talked about his approach at plate.

“I've just been trying to make contact consistently because I know when I do make good solid contact, the ball goes far and good things happen.”

Good things did happen as his first double drove in the first run of the game and was the first of 5 consecutive batters reaching base for the Bulldogs, ending in Reineke’s first 2-run single of the game.

“I haven't been doing very good,” said Reineke. “So I had to change my swing up, so I had to just start hitting the ball again and it worked today, I guess.”

Reineke would get another 2-run single in the 4th to put Boyer Valley up by 10.

Logan Thomsen was solid on the mound, overcoming 6 errors by his defense to toss 5 shutout innings. He allowed just 3 hits and struck out 3. Petersen likes what Thomsen has done on  the mound for the Bulldogs this season.

“It's really fun to be able to play behind him. Pitching well, making plays easy for us but to be able to get him some cushion so he doesn't have to worry about if we make one error or they get a couple people on base that really takes a lot of pressure off him.”

Reineke hopes this type of offensive output will help Boyer Valley surge in the 2nd half of the season.

“We've had a lot of close games and we've come a (long) way from there. We've had a lot of hits and the hits are just going to lead to runs, which is going to win us games. So, it’s really exciting.”
