Boyer Valley FB with Something to Prove in ’25 -

(8-22-25) – Coming up just short can sometimes be the inspiration to an exciting season.

The Bulldogs of Boyer Valley are feeling that way after going 6-3 in 2024 but missing out on an at-large spot in the 8-player playoffs last season.

Coach Jeremy Christiansen feels it’s some motivation for his squad.

“Hindsight is undefeated,” Christiansen told KNOD Sports. "We just try to get better every time, and so, every year is a different group of kids. You've lost a great group of seniors, but we got a great group of guys now that you know, they work hard, they show up every day and we're excited to kind of get this season going and see where we end up.”

This Bulldogs squad will have a huge hole to fill in the form of Owen Garside. The 2nd-team All-State player who was among the 8-player class leaders in rushing yards, all-purpose yards, and touchdowns. He was also the team leader with 63 tackles.

Enter Brody Koski, who rushed for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns while also throwing for 4 scores in his sophomore campaign. Christiansen likes the energy that Koski brings to the field.

“Brody is a very athletic kid, long understands the game of football very well and so, you know, last year he played receiver, he played tailback, he played tight end, he played quarterback and so, he's got skills that we can put anywhere and everywhere and try to utilize those to the best of our abilities. And so we're excited to do that.”

Defensively, Tristen Burkhart was the district sack leader with 8 and half on the season to go with 13 tackles for loss on the year for the Bulldogs. His leadership skills are also superior, according to Christiansen.

“Tristan, his motor just runs right. And so he does a very good job of being in the right spot on all of our calls. We're looking for him to kind of step up and continue to be a vocal leader for us, but last year and up to this point, you know his he just goes hard and he's in the right spot every time.”

Burkhart’s size, 6-3 180lbs, also makes him a formidable presence.

“However tall he is, he's just as long. So, it makes it difficult for quarterbacks to get around him. It's a nice asset to have for us.”
