Cyclone Baseball Crushes Top-Ranked Titans, 16-6 –

(6-20-23) – Harlan Community baseball playing top-ranked Lewis Central and the Cyclones blew them away coming away with a 16-6 in 6 innings.

Jozef Reisz went 2 for 4 with an RBI and now has 6 hits in the last 3 games. He talked with KNOD Sports about his approach at the plate.

"I've been trying to look at fastballs right away and it seems like I have a good eye for the ball," Reisz told KNOD Sports after the game. "I feel like I'm connecting with it really well."

Caleb Schleis, who went 4 and third and allowed just 4 hits, talked about his game plan going against the No. 2 ranked team in Class 3A.

"I just wanted to put it in the zone, let them hit it, let my defense work. I felt like I did that pretty good."

Schleis faced the minimum after 3 innings, allowing just 1 baserunner over that time via a hit by pitch. After Cade Sears got Harlan Community on the board with an RBI triple in the 3rd, Lewis Central was able to scratch across 2 runs and take their only lead of the game.

The Cyclones then got three consecutive hits to start the fourth to tie the game right away. They then tacked on 5 more runs, knocking Titans starter Ty Thomson from the game and opening up a 7-2 lead.

Lewis Central would cut the deficit to 1 by putting up 4 runs in the 5th, capped by a 2-out, 2 RBI double by Payton Fort.

But the Cyclones weren't done on offense as they would tag reliever Gaven Goldsberry for 9 runs on 7 hits over the final two innings before walking it off on a throwing error on a ball hit by Reisz to score winning run by the 10-run rule.

Matthew Sorfonden with 3 hits and Hayden Soma drove in 3 runs as the Cyclones improve to 14-10 on the season.
