Cyclone Basketball Spotlight: Aubrey Schwieso -

(11-12-24) – It was a sport she was introduced to at an early age. Now, she can’t think of time where she didn’t play it.

For Harlan Community’s Aubrey Schwieso, the game of basketball was a sport that she was born to play.

“I've been playing for as long as I can remember. I think my family, my parents, just got me into it as a young girl and I've grown up with, you know, a family who plays basketball, family, who takes me to games, I've played in the summer and so really, I think just my parents putting me out of young age and I’ve played ever since.”

Basketball is a sport Schweiso loves because of the team aspect involved in the game along with the competition it breeds.

“I love the teammate aspect of it. I love getting to meet new people. Over the years, I've met so many people through basketball. I'm a really competitive person, so I think also just being able to compete with some of my best friends and compete against some of my friends, as well.”

Schweiso likes the report she has built with Cyclone Coach Zach Klaassen.

“He's been really great. Obviously, as a freshman, I came in a little scared and I just remember him telling me to just be myself. Kind of not worry about everyone else around me and I think ever since then, we've had trust (in) each other. He's taught me so much about the sport.”
