Cyclone Boys’ Bowling Looking to Take Momentum into H10, State Qualifying Meets -

(2-12-26) – Momentum is always good to have heading into the postseason.

The Harlan Community boys’ bowling team earned that momentum with a 13-pin victory over Kuemper Catholic on Monday. Cyclone Bowling Coach Jami Andersen was worried about how their baker games started, but liked her bowlers were able to endure for the win.

“My boys stepped up, were clean through the last five, and was able to get enough pins that it did eat into our 37-pin lead, but we were able to sneak away with it with a 13-pin win. So definitely a high to end the season.”

The close win gives the Cyclone boys’ bowlers motivation as they have a busy weekend with the Hawkeye Ten Meet in Council Bluffs on Friday and State Qualifying in Carroll on Monday.

Andersen has been working with her bowlers about recognizing lane conditions so they can make adjustments as they go.

“A lot is based on the individual and them knowing their equipment and how it's supposed to react and the adjustments that we have to make based on that information.”

With the top competition they’ll be facing, Andersen knows her bowlers need to be focused from the opening frame.

“We're going up against some really strong competition. So, just we just got to keep our head in the game, stay focused, and convert our spares.”
