Cyclone Boys’ Wrestling 5th at Dan Hill as Snethen, Stephens Take Titles –

(12-6-25) – A solid performance for the Cyclones wrestlers to open the season.

Harlan Community hosted the annual Dan Hill Invitational on Saturday, coming up with a 5th place finish with 127.5 pts, including two champions on the afternoon.

Logan-Magnolia was the overall tournament champion with 255.5 pts, just 4 pts better than Glenwood.

For Cyclone Coach Dr. Adam  Bendorf, starting the season with the Dan Hill Invitational always seems right.

“This is a great way to start the year for us every year. You get a home crowd You got just the ease of kind of getting in and out of here,” Bendorf told KNOD Sports following the tournament. “Honestly, I think we're kind of blessed to have this opportunity and that it's been built up the way it has been.”

It was a great start to the season for Chayton Snethen as the Cyclone took the 157lb title with a pin of Lenox Wylie Brokaw at 5:05 for the 1st place match.

“It just feels like my hard work's finally showing,” Snethen said of his first title. “It feels good to be on top for first time like my whole high school year, but it feels good.”

“Obviously, I think just with time, experience, you know, maturity, those things that just come naturally, but also this year he's just, he's working harder,” said Bendorf about his junior wrestler.

Harlan Community also got senior Jaden Stephens onto the top of the podium with a win at 190lbs with a pin of Glenwood’s Landon Lechtenberg at 1:52 of their 1st place match.

“I just came in today and I was going to have fun with it,” said Stephens after getting his first title of his career. “I didn't plan to win. I was not going to be scared and end up having a good day.”

The Cyclones got 3rd place finishes from Avery Kimmen (138), and Nick Gubbels (285), a 4th place finish from 4th place from Jose Torres (215) and a 5th place finish from Coy Obrecht (144).

In winning the tournament, Logan-Magnolia got champions from Brodie Johnson (113), Crosby Yoder (126), and Wade Hawkins (150). Glenwood had five champions: Ace Cochrine (106), Joseph Leick (132), Nile Lundvall (175), Mason Koehler (215), and Drake Buthe (285).

The Cyclone boys’ wrestling team will next compete in the Glenwood Quad on Tuesday.
