Cyclone FB Falls to LC, 38-13 –

(9-12-25) – The spark was there, but it wasn’t enough to ignite a victory.

Harlan Community stayed tough with rival Lewis Central, but too many big plays the Titans pull away late as the Cyclones dropped a 38-13 decision and fell to 0-3 on the year.

“We weren't quite there in a few situations that kind of led to big plays,” Harlan Community Coach Todd Bladt told KNOD Sports following the game.

The big plays started for Lewis Central on their opening drive, when Brody Chubb connected on passes of 43 & 39 yds with Peyton Phippen for a quick strike touchdown and give the Titans a 7-0 lead.

Chubb threw for 230 yards and 2 TD’s in his first start of the season, teaming up with Phippen five times for 136 yds & both scores.

Braydan Doss also scored touchdowns of 61 and 66 yds for Lewis Central on his way to 192 yds and 3 scores for the evening.

The Cyclones were able to get some long plays of their own from Ayden Redmon, who gave the team a spark with is spectacular 48-yd touchdown run on Harlan Community’s first offensive play of the 2nd half to cut their deficit to 17-6.

“He looked good tonight,” said Bladt. “He was running some north-south and really hitting that hole and kind of sparked the running game there for us. We're going to look to lean on him a little bit here, especially with his performance tonight.”

Redmon had another touchdown of 51 yards to close out the scoring, finishing with 125 yds and 2 TD… all in the 2nd half.

For Harlan Community though, Bladt liked how his athletes were flying to the ball but knows there’s areas they need to work on.

“We were just a little bit misaligned on a couple plays, and a small alignment problem turns into seven points. Those are things that we have to fix as coaches and that falls on me.

“We've got to do a better job of getting them prepared, but we got guys that are playing hard, there's no doubt about it, and they are improving.”

Bladt also wants his team to concentrate on the road ahead.

“This is a new season now. We have to wash it and now we have to focus on what we can control and that's next week against Denison.”

Harlan Community will play their final non-district game of the season when they travel to Denison-Schleswig on Friday.
