Cyclone FB Spotlight: Jozef Reisz -

(8-13-24) – One more run. That’s all the seniors at Harlan Community ask.

One of those seniors, Jozef Reisz, says it’s time for his class to step up this season, starting in training camp.

“We're the seniors now and we have to take ownership and show the younger classmen what to do and how we do it.”

Reisz feels part of their job as seniors to create unity amongst the players.

“We like to include everybody. We don't let any like the freshmen of the sophomores down.We talked to them just like we talk to each other. We try to grow a good relationship and everybody's good to each other. We all push each other and I think that's one of our big mentalities. We don't, we don't go 90%. We all go 100% or 110%.

“We try to teach younger classes what it takes to basically be a state championship team.”

Reisz is the leading returning receiver for the Cyclones with 33 catches for 437 yards a season ago. He also 36.5 tackles, including 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions… and doing that with an injured shoulder for the entire season.

“I suffered it last football season, my junior year, during camp last year and then I played through it all last year, but it's doing a lot better now.”

Reisz was healed so quickly he was able to comeback and play late in the baseball season. He says it’s ready to go for football.

“Now it’s feeling great and I'm feeling confident enough and I'm ready to go for my senior year.”

Reisz says his father, Greg, has been a big influence in his football career, along with his brother, former Cyclone and current University of Northern Iowa offensive lineman Franz Reisz.

“Having an older brother to push you like Franz did to me. It's been huge and it's been beneficial. I mean, sometimes I may not like him for it, but he's been the best big brother and I probably wouldn’t to be where I am without him.”

Harlan Community will begin their season against Lewis Central on August 30th and Reisz knows the rivalry is intense.

“Every year we both teams seem to reload. I mean they got some guys coming back, but we got some guys coming back and I think we're ready to go and our guys are willing to do anything for each other. So we're excited for it.”
