Cyclone Girls’ Soccer Ends Regular Season w/ Win Over Creston, 9-2 –

(5-16-25) – A relaxing and fun way to enter the postseason for Cyclone girls’ soccer.

Goalkeeper Grace Albertsen got time in the 2nd half to go on offense and score the first goal of her career in the Cyclones 9-2 win over the Panthers. Albertsen talked about the opportunity to reverse her role.

“Yeah, it was a pretty cool experience getting to play on the field and not have to sit back in the goal and just watch my friends scroll and then someone just gave me a good pass and I finished it.”

Harlan Community’s Aubrey Schwieso talked about being able to loosen up and have fun as the regular season closes.

“I think it just says a lot about our team, the way we celebrated (Grace) and we're just trying to get other people goals. I think we're very selfless and obviously it's super fun to see her score and we’re all very excited for her.”

Schwieso had a hat trick in the contest, putting two goals away from tying the all-time Cyclone record for goals in a career.

Senior Kayla Anderson also scored a pair of goals. Harlan Community Coach Jared Boysen likes the offensive mindedness senior Kayla Anderson has shown of late.

“She's usually our assist person. Get it outside and get it to Aubrey, but just lately she's been wanting to score. She had a hat trick the other night and having two more tonight. She's always a battler and does what we need her to do.”

The win has Harlan Community at 8-8-1 on the season going into their first round substate match with Green County on Monday. Boysen likes going into the postseason with positive momentum.

“I think we take some momentum from this, this scoring. That's something we've kind of been lacking in those close games is the scoring and knowing that we can and hopefully we can take that even against the tougher defenses that will come up with.”
