Cyclone Girls’ Tennis Playing Strong After 1-1 Week –

(8-23-25) – Play continues to improve for Harlan Community girls’ tennis.

The Cyclones were able rebound from a 9-0 loss to Clarinda on Thursday by beating Red Oak on Friday, 7-2.

Coach Michael Rueschenberg was pleased with how his athletes fought for the win Friday.

“The girls played well in singles. They moved their opponents side to side. They played constantly, hit hard. Won points that they should win, knew when to be aggressive and things like that. So, I was pretty happy with how they played in singles and then to go into doubles and leave no doubt and get that team win was awesome.”

Junior Allison Ratliff was one of three Cyclones who earned two wins against Red Oak. Rueschenberg likes how Ratliff wants to learn and improve her game.

“Allison is a super, super coachable. That's the thing that I want to give her the biggest props on. She is always listening. Always is asking, you know, is this right? Is what I'm doing good? How can I improve? So I just really, really appreciate about that.”

Harlan Community is now 2-4 on the season.
