Cyclone Softball Season Ends with Semifinal Loss to SBL -

(7-9-22) – A tough, hard-fought season came to an abrupt end for Harlan Community softball Saturday night.

The Cyclones were shut down by outstanding defense and victimized by timely hitting as Sergeant Bluff-Luton won by a final of 10-0 in 6 innings.

Harlan Community managed just two hits against starter Regan Herbst. Coach Toshia Kasperbauer thought her team had good at bats against Herbst, but just hit the ball right at defenders.

"The girls hit the ball hard tonight. Unfortunately just hit it at people. I think (Sergeant Bluff-Luton) was just standing in the right spots and unfortunately we didn't have anything drop tonight."

Ella Plagman and Jordan Heese were the only Cyclones to get a hit. Harlan Community left 5 players on base.

Jenna Gessert got the loss but helped keep her team in the game in the middle innings by shutting down the Warrior offense after they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton would finally get to Gessert in the 5th as 5 consecutive hits help lead to 5-run inning and allow the Warriors to cruise to the win.

Harlan Community finishes their season 16-16.
