Cyclone Volleyball Spotlight: Emercyn Reischl -

(8-24-24) – Looking for a special season.

Harlan Community libero Emercyn Reischl thinks the team building through volleyball camp so far could lead to a great season for the Cyclones.

“The teamwork this year has just been so special. I think that this team that we have this year is just a very tight knit group and I'm just so excited just from camp getting to see how everybody works just so well together, just excited to see how that's going to lead into this season.”

As the new Cyclone libero, Reischl is getting used to the tasks of the position.

“I would say that the most important thing about this position is just a mindset. It's very hard to just constantly get hit at and have to get those balls up to your setter.”

Reischl also understands that leadership comes with being libero.

“I would just say first of all, that every single person on our team is such a leader. I sure hope that in my position, I can lead people in a positive way. I feel like I always try and have a positive attitude on the court and I hope my teammates would agree with that.”

Hope Preston, Aubrey Schwieso, and Macy Mueller all return for the Cyclones. Reischl says each has skills that makes them tremendous teammates.

“Thing Hope can get a kill when she sets her mind to it and she's so good on the right side of side. Aubrey Schwieso has such a strong hit and it's just so amazing to watch her play. And Macy Mueller, my goodness. She goes for every single ball, no matter what her sets are always there, and sometimes even when I have a bad pass, you can get it up there and I'm just amazed by her.”

After a disappointing season last year, Reischl is looking forward to how her and her teammates will match-up on the court this season.

“I'm just so excited to see what we can do together.”

Harlan Community will begin their season with a tournament at ADM on Thursday.
