Depth and Experience Hope to Lead Atlantic FB Back to Playoffs -

(8-25-26) – It was a solid campaign a season ago. Now the Trojans want the momentum to continue.

Atlantic was 6-4 last year, reaching the playoffs and despite losing some solid players to graduation, Coach Joe Brummer feels his team has the talent to make it back.

One big cog returning on offense is Ethan McNeal and his 1331 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, both the 2nd most amongst returning players in Class 3A. Brummer loves the talent returning runningback McNeal brings to the gridiron.

“Ethan's a special talent. He's a 100M, 200M state qualifier there with burner speed. He's really athletic on the open field. It makes him pretty dangerous.”

Brummer feels leadership on the offensive line will also help his team continue their success on offense from a season ago.

“Travin Thomas and Owen Miller up front for us are two returning all-district offensive linemen and some guys that we really hang our hat on with their work ethic and their weight room attendance. Those guys are gonna be leaned on heavily for their leadership and experience.”

Defensively, the Trojans will rely on Jake Wailes at linebacker after his 92 tackles a season ago.

“Jake's done a really great job this offseason of putting on some weight. He's putting on some pretty good weight with our strength conditioning program this summer. He's kind of, I think, about 10 to 15 pounds heavier than last fall and it's good weight… He looks good and has really committed himself there in the weight room for us.”

Atlantic will have a tough test to start their season when they face Glenwood on Friday.
