Dominating 2nd Halves Lead IKMM Girls', AHSTW Boys' to Hoops Split -

A tale of two SECOND halves.

AHSTW traveled to face IKM-Manning on Tuesday and the second half was key for each game, as the Wolves girls' beat the Lady Vikes, 48-43, and the Vikings boys' topped the Wolves, 52-39, for a split of the girls'/boys' doubleheader.

The boys' game was a battle of unbeatens and while the Wolves put up a good fight, in the end it was just too much Brayden Lund, who had 24 points. He said after a close first half, the talk in the locker room was to get off to a fast start in the 2nd.

"Really the main thing we talked about at halftime when we went into the locker room, we talked about just got to have a better effort overall, especially on the defensive end." Lund told KNOD Sports after the game. "(We) came out and did that. The offense started clicking and when we get some stops and string some stops together and go on little runs, it helps us a lot."

Ross Kusel had 19 points for the Wolves who suffer their first loss of the season.

On the girls' side, IKM-Manning’s Morgan Hanson had 9 of her 14 points in the 2nd half in a 48-43 win over AHSTW. Hanson feels her recent success had been due to staying on the court.

"Staying out of foul trouble was my big problem the first two games," said Hanson. "So, no fouls this game made me work harder at driving to the basket and getting two."

Mable Langel for the Wolves added 13 points and 6 boards. Delaney Goshorn had 17 points to lead all scorers and Ellie Peterson had 16 pts and 8 rebounds in the loss.
