Girls' State Wrestling - Day 2: Four Area Wrestlers Come Home w/ State Championships –

(2-7-25) – Iowa Girls’ State Wrestling Tournament concluded Friday and Harlan Community’s Elle Stephens reach the championship match at 125 pounds in Class 1A, but defending champion Molly Allen of Riverside was just too much as defeated Stephens for a third time this season, this time by a 17-2 tech fall to claim her 4th state title. Stephens finishes 2nd in her first-ever trip to the State Tournament.

In Class 1A, 140lbs - Logan-Magnolia-Woodbine Teagan Carritt won by fall over Jalyiah Gardner of Keokuk at 3:48 and at 170lbs – Nancy Bowman of Logan-Magnolia-Woodbine lost to East Buchanan’s Brooklyn Graham with a pin at 3:44 of their match.

Class 2A, Lewis Central had 2 state champions with Avaeh Smith winning the 120 pound title and Mahri Manz the 145 pound title.

Day 1 of the Iowa Girls’ State Wrestling Tournament saw Harlan Community’s Elle Stephens continues her historic run, getting pins in both the opening and quarterfinal rounds to reach the semifinals at 125lbs in Class 1A.

Stephens pinned MFL-MarMac’s MacKenzie Bachma at 5:25 of their first round contest before pinning Perry’s Ayden Erickson at 4:38 of the quarterfinal match. She’s take on Reese Berns of Central Elkader in the semifinals during the morning session in Coralville.
