GRAND EVENING: Schwieso Tops 1000pts as Cyclone Girls’ BB Beats Creston, 73-36 –

(1-31-25) – It was GRAND event to top a stellar career at The Palace Friday night.

Aubrey Schwieso’s 3-ptr at 4:56 of the 1st qtr made her the third Cyclone girls’ basketball player to reach 1000 points in her career in Harlan Community’s 73-36 victory over Creston.

Taylor (Frederick) Kuhlman (1300) and Jordyn (Moser) Juhl (1035) each surpassed the mark during 2015-16 season.

Schwieso, who finished the game with 18 pts, was thankful to everyone who help get her to this point of her career.

“It was a special night. I just want to thank all the past coaches I've had and all the past teammates because they helped me get where I’m at today and I wouldn't be here without them and my family, too. It's just really fun. I'm glad to see all the hard work that I put in, just kind of pay off, but I wouldn't without all my teammates and coaches.”

Cyclone Coach Zach Klaassen talked about what it’s been like to coach Schwieso throughout her career.

“You can kind of tell some of these kids, obviously, we got Little Cyclones going on, 2nd and 3rd grade on up, you can kind of see them coming and you get excited about them when they get to high school and obviously, she's one of those players.”

Schwieso’s 3-ptr ended up giving the Cyclones momentum to start playing their game and build a commanding lead.

“The emphasis was get out and run,” said Klaassen. “We knew that they wanted to muck it up and slow it down. You know, we could win a game like that if we wanted to, but we just didn’t want to.”

Grace Albertsen had a career high 25 points as Harlan Community earned their 8th straight victory.
