Griswold FB Looks New Group to Continue Forward Strides -

(8-22-25) – A 3-6 record may not seem great, but for Griswold it was a moral victory.

The Tigers earned more wins last season than in their previous 5 seasons… combined. Griswold Coach Seth Lembke felt his team’s experience helped them to their most successful season since 2017.

“We had a lot of experience,” Lembke told KNOD Sports. “A lot of the kids have been playing a lot of football and you know, at the end of the day, sometimes that experience helps out a little bit.”

But much of that experience is gone with several players graduating. As a result, Lembke plans to use a runningback by committee approach with Alex Rasmussen, Colton Frieze, & Cavyn Turner.

“Alex Rasmussen's is kind of the top kid at the list right now. Hard runner. Good kid. We've got Cavyn Turner. He hasn't been out for a couple of years, but it's good to see him back. He's made some real strides over the summer as well. Then another kid who might get some snaps will be Colton Freeze, another kid who had a lot of JV carries last year, maybe not necessarily a lot of varsity carries, but he's got a little bit of experience in the offense as well.

One returning starter that Lembke hopes will have a major impact is RJ Dishong, who had 31.5 tackles last season, including 5 for a loss.

“RJ's got a great first step and he's got some awesome hands for a big guy. You know, he's very hard to block. He's got a good motor on him. He's very sound with his responsibilities and getting through gaps and playing in space.”
