Harlan Community's Preston Commits to SECC for Volleyball -

(12-16-25) – To be the best, you need to be amongst the best.

Harlan Community senior Hope Preston has committed to playing volleyball at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE, for the fall of 2026.

In press release, Preston said even though she received offers from several NCAA Division III and NAIA schools, her choice ultimately came down to the strong connection she’s built with head coach Carolyn Campbell, who has coached her for the past three years at Premier Volleyball Club in Omaha.

“This decision wasn’t about divisions, it was about choosing a place that feels right for me as a student-athlete. To me having a coach I can trust and learn from is more valuable than divisions and rankings. Coach Carolyn just finished her second season at SCC and is focused on building a winning culture to compete in playoffs next season. I’m excited to grow in the program and do whatever I can to help the team.

SCC has an awesome training environment that will push me to improve over the next two years, and I love that I’ll be able to keep developing my skills before possibly transferring to a four-year university. It’s also super exciting to see how much the Lincoln campus is growing, with new buildings, updated facilities, and tons of opportunities for students.”

When asked during her Letter of Intent signing, Preston said volleyball was always the sport that made her happy.

"I found a lot of friends and community in it. And I felt like I've gotten so far, I didn't want to just end and make it for like nothing."

Preston says she’s considering physical therapy for her major.
