HC Boys’ Tennis Sees Win Streak Snapped Against St. Albert, 6-3 –

(4-27-26) – All good things must come to an end. But it doesn’t mean the effort wasn’t there.

Harlan Community boys’ tennis had their 3-dual winning streak snapped Friday in a 6-3 decision to St. Albert. The competition was closer than the final score and that makes Harlan Community Co-Coach Michael Rueschenberg pleased that his players can hang with good competition.

“This was a tough duel for us,” Rueschenberg told KNOD Sports. “I mean, it was great competition. St. Albert's a really solid team and they're especially solid up to the top of their lineup. The top of their lineup is where they're obviously the strongest, but the top of their lineup is really, really good.”

Cyclones No. 1 Kobe Klaassen was in an intense match with the Falcons Noah Narmi and even those Klaassen lost 8-2, Rueschenberg feels Klaassen was aggressive and made some plays against Narmi that can build his confidence for the future.

“Kobe swung really well, he served the ball well, had multiple aces passed Noah. And again, that's awesome to do against a player of Noah's quality. So, I think I hope that gets Kobe moving back in the right direction a little bit, gives him a little bit more confidence, and just gets him swinging.”

Jameson Arentson was 2-0 for the dual, beating Lance Betts win singles 8-4 then teaming up with Ramsey Hussing to beat Betts and Will Applegate in doubles 8-2. Rueschenberg believes the experience Arentson is gaining this season is priceless.

“It's just good experience to get. This actual match play is you know invaluable. Learning experiences of what to do in different situations and things like that.”

Harlan Community boys’ tennis will look start a new winning streak when they go on the road to face Atlantic Tuesday.
