HC's Wicks, Schmitz Among 14 All-District Honorees; Klaassen, Coenen Get Coach of the Year -

(2-24-22) - Harlan Community girls basketball players Claire Schmitz and Raegan Wicks were named to the All-District Team and Coach Zach Klaassen was named Coach of the Year in the Class 3A Southwest District by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Klaassen, who guided the Cyclones to a 15-8 record in 2021-22, was one of two area coaches to receive Coach of the Year honors. Ryan Coenen of Woodbine also earned the honor in the Class 1A West Central District.

Wicks led Harlan Community with 14.9 PPG this past season. Schmitz, a Simpson College commit, averaged 12.7 PPG and 9 RPG as the Cyclones reached the Regional Semifinals in Class 3A Region 7.

A total of 14 KNOD-area players were named to All-District teams by the IGCA. The list of honorees is available below.
