Homecoming Win for Cyclones FB over Perry, 63-0 -

(10-10-25) - Harlan Community hosting Perry for Homecoming and the Cyclones got the dance going early.

Brody Bendorf had 94 yds on the ground and a TD in the first half as Harlan Community steamrolled over Perry, 63-0.

The Cyclones forced two turnovers on the first three plays from scrimmage by the Blue Jays on a fumble recovery by Shane Cooper and an interception by Dallas McDowell. Harlan Community would create five total turnovers.

“We wanted to kind of set the tone,” said Cyclone Coach Todd Bladt. “We were really focused on the turnover margin tonight… You always want zero turnovers on offense and we wanted multiple turnovers on defense and we were able to achieve that.”

Bendorf says his philosophy at the fullback position is simple.

“Pretty much I just see color and I hit it. That's what coaches tell me to do. Just run as hard as I can.”

Ayden Redmon had 74 yds and TD in helping the Cyclones rack up 284 rushing yds. His work inside has made extremely effective.

“I just pretty much just follow my blockers. I try and stay inside as much as possible. If I see something (open), I bounce.”

Harlan Community had 8 different scorers in the game, including a 20-yd TD scramble from Creed Boggess, Luke Ineson’s first varsity TD on an 18-yd pass from Boggess, and Coy Obrecht 48-yd interception return for TD to close out the scoring. Bladt was impressed with the play by Obrecht.

“I was watching him that whole play and he just read it and went and made a big play. So great for him, a big explosive play like that and we look for him to continue to improve.”

Gabe Arkfeld rushed for 2 scores and passed for a 3rd to Colton Schneider.

Bladt knows that his team needs to continue their solid play to have any hope for a postseason berth.

“We got to get focused on next week and there's no rest for the wicked. It’s playoff football right now.”

The Cyclones will look to get back to .500 when they travel to face Atlantic next Friday.
