IBCA Announces Girls' Regional/Boys' Substate Teams -

(3-13-22) - The Iowa Basketball Coaches Association released their Regional and Substate basketball teams for 2023.

In Class 3A Region 5, Harlan Community’s Aubrey Schwieso was named, along with Atlantic’s Paytn Harter and Jada Jensen.

Class 1A Region 4 included Exira-EHK’s Shay Burmeister and Quinn Grubbs with Tom Petersen as Coach of the Year and Region 5 had Woodbine’s Charlie Pryor, Addi Erickson, Amanda Newton, and Nichole Sherer, along with Maclayn Houston from West Harrison.

Class 2A Region 7 had Treynor’s Clara Tiegland along with her coach Joe Chapman being named Coach of the Year and Region 8 had Underwood’s Alizabeth Jacobsen and Kuemper Catholic’s Catherine Mayhall.

Katelyn Aden of Carroll was chosen in Class 4A Region 1

Boys’ Districts, Class 3A Substate 8, Jacob Birch and Brad Curren were chosen from Harlan Community along with Atlantic’s Colton Rasmussen.

Class 1A Substate 7 saw Ross Kusel from IKM-Manning selected while in Substate 8, Riverside’s Grady Jeppesen, Tri-Center’s Michael Turner, and Woodbine’s Carter Gruver were named with West Harrison’s Koleson Evans, Sage Evans, and Mason King, with Coach Rowdy Evans named Coach of the Year.

Class 2A had AHSTW’s Brayden Lund and Kyle Sternberg picked for Substate 7 while in Substate 8 it was Underwood’s Jack Vanfossen and Treynor’s Jace Tams and Ethan Dickerson.

Carson Seuntjens of Denison-Schleswig and Carroll’s Evan Hammer were also named in Class 3A Substate 1.
