IHSAA Announces Preliminary Football Classifications for '23, '24 -

(3-14-23) – The Iowa High School Athletic Association IHSAA announced their preliminary classifications for the 2023 and 2024 football seasons.

Harlan Community will remain a Class 3A school, but AHSTW and Missouri Valley will move up to Class 1A.

The IHSAA’s two-year football assignment and scheduling process is moving forward as the Iowa Department of Education has finalized its data for school enrollment (BEDS) and free and reduced lunch percentages. These approved updates for football’s new socioeconomic factor have resulted in “final classification numbers” for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The new districts are expected to be announced later this week with schedules for the upcoming football season expected to be released in mid-April.
