IKM-Manning Rolls Over Ar-We-Va in Regional Opener, 66-20 –

(2-12-26) – A hot start continued for a dominating win in Manning Thursday.

Karlee Arp had a career-high 20 pts, including 6 three pointers in IKM-Manning’s 66-20 win over Ar-We-Va in the opening round of 1A – Region 1 play.

Arp hit three of her 3-ptrs in the 1st qtr. She said she felt confident early on.

“I guess I just went for it,” Arp said after the game. “I've been working a lot in practice on just shooting the ball and not being afraid.”

The Rockets played tough to start the game. After falling behind 9-0 to start, they put together a 9-1 run to pull to within a point midway through the opening quarter. The defensive strategy for Ar-We-Va seemed to key on both Anna Stangl and Keagan Eischeid early on, meaning Arp and Oriah Meiners had to help provide the offense, which they did effectively.

“Anna and Keagan, they're phenomenal players, so obviously teams are going to pick up on that and play a little bit harder on them. So, all of us have to be able to step up and be able to get them the ball when we can still.”

The Wolves would pull away to take a 6-pt lead in the 2nd qtr. That’s when the defense prevailed, leading to run out scores and fast-breaks that saw IKM-Manning outscore Ar-We-Va 21 to 2 in the quarter to take control of the game.

With the Wolves entering the postseason on a 3-game losing streak, Arp knows how important it was for her and her teammates to get off to a good start.

“We knew that we were on the best path, so we knew we had to turn it around right for regionals, and we just kind of really hit it hard in practice the last two days and made sure we were on the right path for this game.”

The Wolves got 14 pts from Keagan Eischeid while Annabelle Blum had 11 pts off the bench. IKM-Manning hit ten three pointers in the game.

The Rockets got 9 pts from Gabrielle Hundling as they finish their season 0-22.

IKM-Manning (10-12) will host Glidden-Ralston in the Regional Quarterfinals on Tuesday.
