Lo-Ma BB Wins District Opener over Exira-EHK, 10-0 -

(7-3-26) – The formula has been simple: Dominant pitching, timely hitting. It’s been the secret to the Panther’s success for two seasons now. And they hope it will give them another trip to Carroll for a chance at a state title.

Aiden King was 3-4 with an RBI, 4 stolen bases, and two runs scored as Logan-Magnolia earned a 10-0 win over Exira-EHK.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead with a 3-run 1st. King singled with one out, stole 2nd then stole 3rd and scored when the throw down went into left field.

King talked about his focus at the plate.

“I just went up there looking for my pitch. When I got it, make sure to drive it. Look for a top off the ball, I'm not popping it up.”

Back-to-back doubles by Keenan Kuhlman and Mason Van Iten brought in the other two runs in the inning.

It was all that the Panthers would need as they used three pitchers to hold the Spartans to just one hit and three baserunners on the game, led by Macklin Loftus’s 4 innings with 7 strikeouts. The outing dropped Loftus’s ERA down to 0.18, best in the state amongst pitchers with at least 5 starts on the season. He talked about the key to his success this season.

“Just being able to locate a fastball and know if I make a mistake, I have a good team behind me, but being able to put a fastball where I need it to go and then have secondary pitch work, it's been huge all season.”

After the taste of the state tournament last season, Loftus and his teammates are motivated for a return trip.

“I think it's really a lot of people's expectation for us to get back there, but just knowing that we have the ability to get there and seeing what we have up against us here these next couple weeks is really going to impact how we get there.”

Trent Young had the only hit for Exira-EHK ends their season at 0-15.
