‘Physical’ Spartan Team Expected This Season Under Buckholdt -

That’s what new Exira-EHK football Coach Drew Buckholdt wants to see from his Spartans this season.

“I don't think we were that physical of a team last year,” Coach Buckholdt told KNOD Sports. “I always want to be the most physical team on the on the football field.”

Buckholdt wants that to be the stamp of his teams as he takes over for long-time Coach Tom Petersen. One player that seems to be taking the right steps in getting more physical is new Spartans quarterback Jamison Kilworth.

“I think he's been doing a great job this off season. He’s really transformed his body, has gotten a lot faster, and his decision making so far has been doing really good.”

Alex Hansen will be looked to as leader on Coach Buckholdt’s defense.

“Alex does a really great job at listening and his fundamentals are very sound. He's a very good open field tackler and he's a wrestler, so he likes to think that helps him out and I think it does too.”
