Mo Valley Girls’ BKB Dominates in Opening Rd Win over Tri-Center, 47-24 –

(2-14-26) – It started slow but, once they got going, the Lady Reds rolled.

Tylee Koyle had three 3-ptrs in the 1st half to get the offense rolling for Missouri Valley as they cruised to a 47-24 victory over Western Iowa Conference rival Tri-Center in the opening round of the Class 2A – Region 7.

The Lady Reds got out to an 18-2 lead as the Trojans turned the ball over 15 times in the 1st half. Missouri Valley would get 20 steals in the contest.

Koyle knew that it was important for her team to get off to a quick start.

“I just knew that we needed to make some shots to get ahead early to really make them turn off the game and so that we could keep going. So, I just knew that I had to make some shots early to get us started.”

The game was marred by slow pace as 37 total fouls were called.

Missouri Valley has now won 5 of their past 6 games. Mackenzie Parrott, who had a game-high 11 pts, thinks things are starting to come together for her team.

“We have a lot of team chemistry here with us, so we know anybody can shoot, anybody can drive like we did earlier in the season, but… we come together more and it really just works.”

Parrott also knows the importance bench players like Dilynn Myler, who had 9 pts before fouling out late in the 4th qtr.

“It's a team thing. So you can't just have five people. You can't just have one. You have to have everyone and it's good to have those people that come off the bench because then people get breaks and we know that they can still make plays.”

Senior Macie Schneckloth had 8 pts and 13 rebounds for Tri-Center, who finish their season 5-16.

Missouri Valley (12-11) will battle another WIC rival, Riverside, in the regional quarterfinals on Tuesday.
