Mo Valley VB Dominates AHSTW in Straight-Sets –

(9-17-24) – There was no slowing down the Lady Reds against the Lady Vikes on Tuesday.

Grace Herman had a game-high 12 kills as Missouri Valley used the ‘speed-game’ to earn a straight-set victory over the AHSTW, 25-9, 25-20, 25-9.

Herman said it was the defense that set the tone.

“I think we really need to trust our defense. Our defense has come a long way, and I think that's what we've like prided it on. So I think trusting our defense helped a lot tonight.”

The Lady Reds were able to produce several multi-point services runs that allowed them to gain comfortable leads and comeback from large deficits against the Lady VIkes. Herman says it’s part of their strategy to wear their opponent’s down.

“Coach Megan West really prides on us, like looking where we're gonna swing before we swing. So, we really try to do that and try to speed up. We try to speed up our hitters, our setters do, to kind of get the blockers tired so we can hit in the gaps. So, that really helps too.”

Khloee Stoop had 7 kills for Missouri Valley. Herman talked about how they’re bringing Stoop along.

“We've been trying to speed her up, just like me. I think, that's really gonna help her in the long run. She has a really good vertical and she's taller and she really swings hard on every single ball. So I think it's great as a sophomore to be swinging as hard as she can.”

AHSTW was led by Loralei Wahling with 4 kills.
