Mo Valley VB Holds On to Beat Tri-Center in Regional QF –

(10-22-25) – It was a wild match in Neola as Western Iowa Conference foes battle for a regional semifinal spot.

Dilynn Myler had 18 kills as Missouri Valley barely held on after taking a 2-0 lead in the match and beat Tri-Center, 25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 15-13.

Myler said that Lady Reds setter Claire Myler helps her when she’s on the attack.

“Claire's giving me great balls. She tells me where to hit. If I need to hit deep line, if they're not there. If I need a hit or tip.”

Khloe Stoops, who also had 18 kills for Missouri Valley, said communication with the setter is important, especially this time of the year.

“It's very important. We know she relies on us, so we have to take care of business and she's a really good setter, so we have to get her the assist.”

Claire Myler’s 42 assists allowed her to eclipse the school record of 643 in a season. Libero Emerson Anderson also set a new school single-season record, surpassing 426 digs.

The Lady Reds were in control winning a tightly contested 1st set the holding a 7-pt lead in Set 2 while on set point. But the Trojans wouldn’t quit, erasing 6 set points before falling. Tri-Center would use that momentum to win the next two sets to send it to a race to 15.

Despite losing a 2-0 lead, Stoops was sure her team would come out on top.

“I knew we could do it. I really expected us to come out and I knew we were going to win. I had the confidence in ourselves and I know we all have the confidence in each other.”

Set 5 would be a microcosm of the match. Tightly contested. Back-and-forth. Missouri Valley would go up 3. Tri-Center would battle back. The Trojans erased three match points before falling to the Lady Reds.

Tri-Center got 21 kills from senior Harlie Leaders and 14 from junior Tess Casey. The Trojans season ends at 13-21.

Missouri Valley will face Riverside in the 2A-Region 7 semifinals on Monday.
