Pryor’s No-No Propels Woodbine BB to Win over Exira-EHK, 8-0 –

(6-30-25) – Near perfection.

Cal Pryor was on target from the first pitch of the game as he pitched a 7-inning no-hitter while striking out 11 in an 8-0 win for Woodbine over Exira-EHK on Monday.

“The fastball is working. Just kind of blew past them every time. Just kind of found the zone. That was kind of the game plan.”

Pryor gave up two walks in 4th, one of which was erased on a caught stealing, and faced just one over the minimum.

It was a 3-0 lead going into the 7th, meaning Pryor had to focus on each at bat. He says the close game allowed him to stick to his game plan.

“When the game is close, I kind of just get amped up a little more. So I guess it kind of helps you.”

It was a battle for the first 6 innings as Woodbine scored their first three runs on a fielder’s choice by Gunner Wagner and wild pitch in the 1st then an unearned run on a safety squeeze by Landon Bendgen in the 4th.

The bats finally got going for the Tigers in the 7th when they sent 11 batters to plate and scored 5 runs, highlighted a 2-run single by Xavier Johnson.

Exira-EHK got an excellent first 6 innings from Anthony Young, where he gave up just 2 earned runs during that time, before he ran out of gas in the 7th. Young’s defense behind him helped him out with a couple of nice plays by Alex Hansen at 3rd.

Wagner, Johnson, and Bendgen each drove in two runs for the Tigers who are now 13-5 on the year. The Spartans fall to 2-14 on the season.
