Record-setting Night for Ramsey in IKM-Manning BKB Sweep of Mo Valley –

(2-3-26) – It didn’t take long for Ramsey to reach the top of the heap.

With a 2nd qtr 3-ptr, Ben Ramsey became IKM-Manning’s all-time leading scorer, leading his team to 64-52 victory over Missouri Valley Tuesday.

Ramsey, who scored 19 pts for the game, surpassed the total of 1,535 pts by IKM-Manning Assistant Coach Kyle Wagner, who established the mark in 2016. For Ramsey, it was a dream come true.

“Ever since I was young, I saw that record and I wanted to go for it. So getting that was huge,” Ramsey said after his record-setting performance Tuesday. “A lot of respect to Coach Kyle who had the record. Great basketball player. I always looked up to him when I went to his games. He was somebody that inspired me to go out there and get better and work hard because I know he did that and just a guy that I looked up to as a kid and now that I get to break his record means a lot to me.”

Ramsey got his record-setting points in a close 1st half, where he hit a big 3-ptr just before the halftime buzzer to give the Wolves the lead at the break. He was helped out in the half by Issac Blankman, who four 3-ptrs for 12 pts.

IKM-Manning would start the 2nd half on 12-2 run, helped primarily by the solid rebounding of Ashton Ahrenholtz, allowing the Wolves to shutdown the Big Reds while getting several 2nd chance opportunities. Ramsey understands the importance of Ahrenholtz efforts on the boards.

“Rebounding is huge and that guy works harder than anybody to get those rebounds. When we can get rebounds on defense, you get the ball out, push, and that leads to transition points on offense. Second chance points are huge.”

Wyatt Danner had 14 pts for IKM-Manning, 11 in 2nd half. Missouri Valley would get 13 pts from Layton Maasen and 9 pts from Jaden Hill.

In the girls’ game, Anna Stangl would score on a floater in the lane as the game was winding down to cap off a 20 pt night in IKM-Manning’s 59-54 win over Missouri Valley.

The Wolves would take a 14-pt lead after the 1st qtr, but the Lady Reds did what they’ve done all season and battled back slowly, cutting their deficit to 10 pts at the half and get as close as 3 pts in the 4th qtr, helped on three big 2nd half 3-ptrs by Rylee Evans.

But Stangl and sophomore Keagan Eischeid would keep IKM-Manning up on the scoreboard. Eischeid would fill up the scorebook, getting a double-double with 20 pts and 14 rebounds, plus 6 blocks and a host of assists. She talked about what she’s learned over the season to improve her game.

“I think right now we've noticed some teams are crashing me, so I've gotten better at passing backside and I think overall, just doing what my team needs for me.”

The Lady Reds got 13 pts for MacKenzie Parrott in the loss.

Now sitting at 9-9 with three games left in the regular season, Stangl knows what her team needs to do as the season winds down.

“Finish teams strongly. Let's get three more wins this season and go into the postseason strong. I think, the more wins we have, it's going to be really beneficial for us as we go and just continue to play as a team.”
