Reynold’s Arm, Stellar Defense Leads HC Baseball to Win over LC, 5-2 –

(6-19-25) – Against their biggest rivals, the Weston Wall would not let anything pass.

Weston Reisz made two diving catches of line drives at the hot corner to end the 5th and 6th innings and help preserve Harlan Community’s 5-2 win over Lewis Central.

Reisz talked about his defense after the game.

“Just got two really good jumps off the bat and got a good glove on it, I guess.

Joseph Gross also had a diving catch in right field as the defense shined for the Cyclones. Gross talked about having a big role at the varsity level.

“It's been pretty cool, you know, lifelong dream in mine. I mean, I always wanted to play varsity and it’s pretty cool.”

The Harlan Community defense allowed pitcher Jonas Reynolds to throw his first complete game of his varsity career. He talked about his game plan after the game.

“I was just trying to find the strike zone on most of the batters. Keep them off balance was a big goal and trying to mix my pitches well enough to where they can't guess.”

Reynolds gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits while striking out three for his 2nd consecutive victory.

Cyclone Coach Heath Stein like how Reynolds competed on the mound.

“His change up, curveball, fastball were all very good and just competing zone. He got tough when he got in jams, too. So, just bared down and did a great job.”

Stein is also pleased with the competitiveness and confidence his team brings to the diamond.

“We play anybody and we're just going to go to war and see what happens. It's just kind of our approach like, just compete how we can and we can stay ball games.”

Reynolds, Foxx Argotsinger, and Cade Nelson each had an RBI as Harlan Community improves to 15-6 on the season.
