Riverside Overcomes Early Deficit to Top IKM-Manning, 16-12 -

(6-17-22) - NO QUIT IN OAKLAND. That seems to be the new mantra for Riverside softball.

Trailing 9-2 after 3 innings, the Lady Dawgs would score 14 unanswered runs before holding off IKM-Manning for a 16-12 win in Irwin Friday night.

Riverside would score 5 runs in the 4th to cut their deficit to 9-7. They would then get 3 runs in the next two innings to get to take the lead, before blowing the game open with a 6-run 7th.

Elyssa Amdor, who was 4 for 4 with 4 RBI on the evening, drove in the go-ahead run in the 6th. Amdor told KNOD Sports that seeing her pitcher Ayla Richardson buckle down after her team had cut the deficit to two helped her and her teammates believed they could comeback to win the game.

"We decided that we can beat this team. We went in with a positive mindset. We knew that we were able to hit off this pitcher well and we just needed to hit the ball."

After giving up a 4-spot in the 3rd inning to IKM-Manning, Richardson would retire 8 in a row and held the Wolves scoreless until there was 1 out in the 7th.

The Lady Dawgs collected 17 hits on the evening. Richardson was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI for Riverside who are now 5-15 on the season.

Ella Richards was 2 of the Wolves 6 hits. She also drove in 3 RBI for IKM-Manning who fell to 2-9 on the season.
