Riverside Rolls Stanton in Dist QF Behind Amdor Triple-Double, 23 from Jeppesen, 70-27 -

(2-16-26) – Pressure and patience. That led to a huge win in district quarterfinal play Monday.

Junior Cole Jeppsen hit seven 3-ptrs on the evening for a 23-pt night to help lead Riverside to a dominating 70-27 win over Stanton in the 1A-District 13 quarterfinals in Oakland.

The Bulldogs used a 7-0 run to begin to build a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Jeppsen got going with three makes from beyond the arc in that opening quarter. He said he felt more confident the more he shot early on.

“I just saw a couple go through. We were working the ball inside, and my guys were kicking it back out to me. So, whenever I get open looks, I look to put it up, and tonight they were going in, so I just kept letting it fly.”

The pressure defense by Riverside put the Vikings in bad situations that led to several runout turnovers. The most spectacular of which came just before halftime, when Dawson Henderson stole a pass at midcourt, flipped it backwards over his head to Jeppesen, who found Peyton Amdor on a break, only to get the ball back from Amdor for his only 2-pt bucket of the game.

Amdor recorded a triple-double for the Bulldogs with 14 pts, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jeppesen talked about what it’s like to play with the talented junior guard.

“I mean, you know, he can score from every level. He's going to work hard to make plays… Huge. I mean, it spreads the floor for you. It's fun to play with.”

The Bulldogs started the 2nd half on a 10-0 run that sealed the contest. Stanton was led by Brodee Sowers with 10 pts in the loss.

Riverside will face Southwest Valley on Thursday.
