Riverside Steals Win from Audubon, 54-52 -

(1-2-26) – A Bulldog was the Prince of Theives in leading his team to a win.

Cole Jeppesen’s steal and score with 16 seconds left would be the difference in the game as Riverside earned a 54-52 win over Audubon Friday.

Owen Fenner, who had 14 pts and 7 rebounds, talked about his thoughts as he saw Jeppesen make the steal.

“I knew at that moment, I was like, man, we actually have a chance at winning this. I was so nervous coming from that low lead. Like they had their big guy all night who we couldn't really stop and then when he got that steal, I just had a feeling like, oh yeah, we got this game now.”

The Bulldogs would overcome a 10-pt 4th qtr deficit. They trailed by 9 with exactly 4 minutes left when Coach Nic Kroon called timeout.

“I think after that timeout, we really just had to flip a switch,” said Fenner. “And if we wanted to have a chance at coming back, you know, it's not common for teams to make up a 10 plus-point deficit in 4 minutes in the fourth quarter. And Coach told us we really need to get some steals and make some and that's what we did.”

Over those final 4 minutes, Riverside would end the game on a 12-1 run. It was back-to-back 3’s by Fenner and Peyton Amdor in a 50-sec stretch that would get the run going.

“The energy was up because we just cut that lead super quick and we knew that we had a chance now and we our goal was to come here and win because obviously in the past we haven't done so well against Ottoman and they were definitely had the size advantage over us and we knew that so we had to make those shots in order to get us back in the game.

The Bulldogs were led by Amdor, who had 17 pts, while Jeppesen had 11pts and 6 assists.

Brody Weber had a double-double with 17 pts and 16 rebounds for the Wheelers while Brody Schultes added 15 pts.
