Riverside VB Continues to Roll w/ Sweep of Lo-Ma -

(9-16-25) – The mission is apparent… return to State.

Top-ranked Riverside seems poised to do just that as they continue to roll through the regular season, earning another straight set victory Tuesday, defeating Logan-Magnolia, 25-22, 25-14, 25-14.

The Panthers hung tough in the opening set against the Bulldogs, including at several points midway through. Logan-Magnolia stayed within three points the entire set and killed off a set-point before eventually dropping the set.

Lilli Reed, who had 8 kills on the evening, felt her team could have played better early on.

“I think that they were being very scrappy on defense and we were not really capitalizing on their errors like I feel like we should have.”

Reed’s serve came up big in the final two sets, as she would get 4 aces on the evening. She talked about what she done to improve her serve.

“In practice, I'm just working on very mental reps. When I go back and serve and practice, I'm thinking every ball like it's a real game and I've been working with coaches trying to figure out my toss and getting it right for the start of the season.”

Sydney Somers led Riverside with 9 kills as they improve to 18-0. Logan-Magnolia’s Lindsey Kastner had a team high 8 kills in the loss.

Riverside has lost just one set this season and is determined to reach the state tournament in Coralville again.

“We totally want to go back there. It was such an experience the last time and it was something that I so want to get you back to. And I know for sure as seniors and juniors who have played in that stage, we want to get back there. That's like such a push to get back to that stage.”
