Spartans SB Rallies to Beat AHSTW, 4-3 -

(6-13-25) – It was a hard fought tough tilt in Western Iowa Conference softball action on Friday.

Abby Wanser’s RBI triple in the 5th would tie the game and she’d end scoring the winning run on an error as Exira-EHK/Audubon came from behind for a 4-3 victory over AHSTW.

Lady Vikes built a 3-0 lead with pitcher Sienna Christian shutting down the Spartans offense until the 4th. That’s when Exira-EHK/Audubon broke through after Wanser doubled and scored on a wild pitch and Jordan Mulford got an RBI single to score Alissa Testroet to cut their deficit to 1.

Wanser talked about the adjustments made mid-game to Christian.

“I think a lot of us weren't quite ready for what she was going to throw at us and then the second time through, we all adjusted and we all got the best them.”

Christian gave up just two earned runs in 6 innings of work for AHSTW and got solid defensive help from catcher Clara Pace who threw out two would-be base stealers.

For the Spartans, pitcher Riley Miller dominated recording 14 of the 21 outs via strikeout. Wasner talked about what it’s like to play with Miller in the circle.

“She’s obviously a really good pitcher and she’s so fun to be around, so it makes our team like 10 times more fun.”

Exira-EHK/Audubon has now won 2 in a row and are back up over .500 to 7-6. AHSTW slips to 3-8.
