St. Albert, Underwood Split BKB Doubleheader -

(12-15-25) – A top-shelf boys’ match-up and the defining girls’ champs showing off their bench. That was the matchup between Underwood and St. Albert Monday.

The Eagles Garrett Luett put up 17 pts and 13 boards as Underwood held on for a 57-54 win over St. Albert. Luett talked about what they expected against the Falcons.

“St. Albert's a really good team. They do a lot of things well. They've got a few really good scores. (Colt) Spencer and (Cooper) Hamilton's in there. They score it very well, but we were able to find ways to contain them and ultimately come out with a dub there.”

After trailing by 5 to end the 1st qtr, Underwood would dominate the rest of the half, with Luett and Nolan Baker combining for 25 of the Eagles 30 1st-half pts and take a 5-pt lead at the break.

Underwood led by as much as 10 in the 4th qtr, but Cooper Hamilton and Morgan Young would get hot and cut their deficit to 2 before eventually falling.

Nolan Baker had 14 pts for Underwood and teammate Landon Wigington had 13 pts. Colt Spencer and Noah Narmi each had 13 pts to lead St. Albert in the loss.

Eva Jones was among three St. Albert players to score 10 pts in their 60-28 win over Underwood. Jones talked about her mentality when she comes off the bench.

“We just see what they're giving us and we know we need to bring the intensity off the bench right away to keep it moving.”

Avah Underwood also had 10 points. She says after winning a state championship a season ago, the team’s mentality is similar to last years.

“We've been driven with the mentality that, you know, we're not defending a state championship. We're trying to get another one. So, for us to go into practice every day, like chasing a state championship, it's a clean slate. So, we just go in and we just want another one.”

Ellie Larmie also had 10 pts for the Saintes, who improved to 7-0 while the Eagles were led by 13 pts from Ainsley Roberts.
