Tri-Center Girls Invite Final Chance for Potential Drake Relays Qualifiers –

(4-16-26) – With one last chance to qualify for the Drake Relays, the best efforts were shown in Neola Thursday.

The Tri-Center Girls Invitational offered a final opportunity for some athletes to reach the Blue Oval in Des Moines, while allowing others to cement solid starts to their season.

AHSTW’s Bella Lamp dominated the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.66, but fell short of qualifying for Drake. Lamp talked about the improvements she’s made this season.

“I'm working with some people up in Norwalk and just on hurdle form, block starts, all that good stuff. My hurdles have definitely gotten better from what it was last year, but now what I'm really trying to work on is not stuttering into my hurdles, which definitely did tonight, but it'll keep getting better as the season goes.”

Trojans senior Layla Meador scored a win front of the home crowd in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.27 seconds. She was honored during the meet and talked about what it means to be a part of Tri-Center athletics.

“It's awesome. Really, when I started track in middle school, I never knew all the memories we would make throughout the years. Every year's been something different to be proud of. So, it's really fun, just looking forward to the next year. And our track team's just so supportive and we're really good role models and everything. So, it's just very exciting every year.”

Woodbine’s Vanessa Blum won the only event her school was signed up for, taking the high jump title with a height of 5’4”, just making the cut for Drake.

Treynor won the Tri-Center Girls Invitational with 110 pts. Tri-Center was 2nd, St. Albert finished 5th and AHSTW 6th.
